Fuel pump mounting ideas for '67-68 F-Body.

I'm in the process of mocking up my electric fuel pump location. I want to tuck it away so it's not seen so much but from what I remember I thought it had to be mounted lower than the tank itself in order to work properly.

What I need are some pictures of how and where electric fuel pumps have been mounted on '67 and '68's to get some general ideas. Thanks.

On my 68 Firebird, I mounted it on the section of sheet metal that joins the rear seat pan to the trunk. It is roughly where the small of your back would be if seated inside the car.
I just made a doubler plate to help w/ load distribution and mounted it inside the car. You could weld some nuts to the plate and not have to get a helper to hold a wrench on the inside.
It was tucked up out of the way and still low enough to get a gravity prime. OF course, you'd have to be careful about routing your exhaust, but a simple piece of sheetmetal makes an effective heat isolator.

I mounted my pump behinde the right side rear tire as low as I could get it. I then made a aluminum cover to protect it from hot rubber!!
I am trying to attach a picture, Not shure if this will work.

Did you leave that fuel line through the frame like that , or did you later add a bushing so it won't chaff against the frame?

Hi Bonzo, I will post a picture of the cover as soon as I get a chance. As far as running the fule line, I ran it through the rear frame rails and then up through the rocker panel. The line is coved by wire loom the hole way to make shure it can not get cut. The line I used for the feed and return was the push lock style and seams to be quite durable.
The only proplum I am having is the pick up in the fuel cell draws air on hard breaking. I am going to put in a multi point pickup next week to try and cure this.

Randy, that looks great. What kind of pump is that? Do you have anymore detailed pictures? Also...is that drawing from a stock tank or from a fuel cell?

You might try this cool firewall grommet connector from Quickcar Racing products. http://www.quickcar.net/electric/57810.html
I believe that you have a braided line under that rubber hose, but this might hold it a little better. This site also has the best battery cables on the market, so flexible..

Here are some of the pictures I had of the fuel system. If you would like more let me know what you would like to see and I will get them for you this week. As far as parts this is what I used.
1--16 gal Jaz fuel cell " I am pulling in multi piont pick ups this week and will let you know if that stoped my problum of sucking air at a 1/3 of a tank under hard stopping.
2--# 10 line on the suction side with a 10 micron Aeromotive filter
3--Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump
4--#8 line on the feed side with a 100 micron Aeromotive filter
5--#8 line to each of the Fast fuel rails "LS1"
6--#6 line from each rail back to Aeromotive Bypass fuel pressure regulator
7-- #6 lin back to the fuel cell

Here is a picture of the cover I made. It is nothing to fancy, I plan to redo it and make one for the other side once the new quarter panels are on. Sorry it is so dirty, I have put on 1200 miles and 2 track days sense I have cleaned the under side of the car.
I also put in some pictures of the fuel lines going from the rear frame into the rocker panel.

In my 69 Camaro, I mounted the pump directly to the fuel tank. I took the tank to a machine shop and had them weld a mounting plate to the back of it.
