      Question on my Budnik Wheel Order

      I ordered Budnik rims yesterday Teardrop FL 18x8 front & 18x12 rears and the people I ordered from called today and wanted to know what kind of brakes I was going to use and after that the exact part number for the front and rear? Why - does it really make a difference on the rim?

      There needs to be proper caliper clearance, especially if you are running an aftermarket setup like a 4 or 6-pot caliper. The issue isn't the inside diameter, but the amount the caliper sits out past the hub face.

      Thanks. I just couldn't figure out what they were worried about on an 18; wheel. Hopefully they will take just the brake company name, because I don't think there is a kit number. My plan on the front was to use a 4 piston Dynalite caliper and Superlite caliper bracket so I could run bigger rotor.

      If it's something like a C5 conversion or a Wilwood kit and you know the components it uses, they should be able to figure it out. If you were making the entire brake setup from scratch, you'd probably have to send them a template of it.

      Two pieces of information that is helpful when placing your order is caliper radius, and caliper offset. Caliper radius is from the center of the hub to the top of the caliper (in inches). Caliper offset is the distance the caliper over hangs the mounting surface (in inches). That tells the guys building your wheels to check and make sure it can fit in the rim (Inside Diameter "ID"), and lengthen out the mounting surface to allow for your brakes not to hit the spokes.

      Thanks for the replies. I did a lot of research today and ended up with a set of Baer Track+ - 13" 2 peice rotor and a 2 piston PBR caliper for the front and a 13" 2 piece rotor and 1 piston PBR caliper with a parking brake for the rear. Cost ended up being the deciding factor as they were almost half the cost of a 13" Wilwood. Thanks for all the help.
