Converter ?
IN an auto tranny, do you need to fill the converter with fluid before installing it or does it fill through the tranny

Yes lol.
You don't need to totally fill it, but I like to dump at least a quart of fluid in the converter to lube things up. The pump will fill it once started but I prefer not to run it dry ever.
