'66 in the raw!

Nothing terribly exciting! I was bored and decided to post these pics up. We hung the doors for fitment, got the power steering pulley on the motor and are fine tuning some of the rear end stuff but, for the most part, we are just waiting on parts and materials. Rodgers waiting for some dyes for his bender so he can start on the cage.











Hopefully I can have some basic pics of the cage and some of the other parts bolted to the car! :bsjerk:

A-Pillar rust repair! Thank God! No more rotten A-Pillars!



Finally got the stainless material for the headers!





Now all we gotta do is put it together!

floor? And I love the custom touch on the rear shock
mount with the ZO6.I think the fab work is so bitchin.

Are you going to powder coat the frame? it looks just
to good to cover up.What are your rims and tire plans?
Iam sure whatever you choose will be awesome on
that ride!Also any idea's on the final color? I think we
will see a future SEMA ride real soon or a SMOTY award.

Thanks for the kind words! We used 16 gauge for the sub floor.

The guys at Ironworks are AWESOME! JMO but I think these guys are going to be the next big shop! Rodger has some REAL talented guys up there! Rodgers not bad either!

I'm going to powdercoat the frame. I hear you about covering it up. That's why I decided to have them section the sub-floor so that, at least from the bottom you can see the excellent framework these guys did. I had planned on putting a flat belly pan for aero reasons but after seeing how beautiful the framework was I thought it would be a shame to completely cover it up.

Rims and tires, at this point, are front 255/17/35 and rear 335/18/30. Actually we're still debating on this one since we have to actually see if we can fit the 335's in back. It'll either be 335's or 295's.

As far as color I am looking at a lot of new car maker palettes. With all the new stuff the car will have I don't think it will look right with an old style color. Obviously, Black, Red and Silver would look great but they have been done to death! Then again, you can't deny how killer a properly shot Black looks on any car! Until you have to actually do it, you don't realize how hard it is to choose a color!

WOW, SEMA? SMOTY? That's a pretty tall order! I started this project just trying to build a badass race car/Canyon carver. It sure has taken a life of it's own but at the end of the day all I really care about is hearing it growl when I tweak the ignition and feeling it pull......HARD.....when I step on the gas. Feeling the G's as I push it HARD around a corner and feel ing the tires staying planted. This is what will put the big grin on my face. Anything else will be gravy!

Killer project, I want a silver or orange one, but those colors are everywhere... some kind of green would be awesome, because no matter what color that car will stand out....! I always like mossport green... cant wait to watch more progress..... I wish I could budget a build for them like this. I have a 66 found....
