Engine/hood clearance issue help?
Guys, I need your help on thinking up ways to lower my engine height just a little bit...like a half an inch at the most. I just need a little bit more clearance between the hood an the air cleaner.
All I've thought of so far is trimming the base off of my air cleaner. Any other ideas?

I trimmed the base of my air cleaner, pretty simple way of lossing 1/2 inch. Also try a shorter air cleaner element

If you only need to gain 1/2" I would just modify the air cleaner. There are soo many sizes to choose from. Even if you got a shorter filter that could solve the problem. Any pics?

all I've got is generic engine pics....I tried to snap some that showed the clearance problem, but that's a wee tad difficult...since the hood has to be....closed

I have had zero luck finding a shorter element. I'm using an STP element for some random toyota something right now....
Since this shot, I've trimmed off as much of the air cleaner bolt as I can get away with.

K+N makes dropbases for aircleaners. I'm using their 14"x3" with an 1.25" drop.
