Need DC control help asap.
I cant get ahold of Jabin so I need some quick help.
I read the instructions several times and still have a few questions.
1. It sais not to attach to the starter end of the battery cable but my battery is in the trunk. Do I really have to run a wire all the way back to the trunk or is that what the "Surge Protector" is for?
2. It looks to me like that Surge protector is broken? It was like that when I opened the box. Would I be able to just solder it?
3. What is that grey wire for?
For now I put the jumpers on 5,7 and 8,10. Hope thats right.
I will wait here patiently for a few minutes for help.

Cool then if someone answers it will let both of us know. (and others that are wondering) I guess for now I can go work on the driveshaft loop and check back in a few minutes. I will be in and out of the garage for at least 2 and a half more hours. Until around 9:30 EST.

Well the driveshaft loop is almost done. I already bolted the loop part together and drilled the holes thru the floor. On thursday I will get longer bolts and that will be all done. I am done for tonight in the garage. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow for the answers. Hopefully I will know by thursday so I can get this all done in time to start working on my power steering gear box and other power steering goodies. I will also start on the Hydraboost once I get this DC Controller installed.

The grey wire is a fusable link. You need to install that between the surge protector and the + terminal of the controller.
You are gonna love how well that unit is going to work.

Thanks for the replies. Thats great news about being able to hook to the starter. However since my surge protector is broken, I guess I will have to wait for a new one before I install this.
Do you have any pics of your installs? I thought the surge protector just goes from grnd pin directly to the input pin. But gchandler you say I need to put the grey wire with it?

What purpose does the surge protector perform?
I didnt use one in my install.

My battery is in the trunk so I need the surge protector. I dont know exactly what it does but using the surge protector prevents me from having to run a wire all the way to the battery in the trunk.

Do you still have the factory junction block on the radiator support a little above and right of the original battery location?

I just got off the phone with Jabin and he gave me all the answers I needed. We also learned that my current relay is fried. When my car got hot I would get something called "run on". This means my car would stay running when I turned off the ignition. The relay was soo hot it was fusing together causing the majority of my problems. He is sending me a new surge protector. The surge protector keeps the dc controller at 12v. The grey cable is a fusible link like gchandler said. It also sais right on the wire.
He said I can hook the dc controller power source right to the junction block as long as the block is 12.3-12.4 volts. If it is 14volts I cant hook to it. I learned a lot in 15 minutes. 
I need to buy something to test the volts to make sure. I currently have nothing to check that. He also said that the dc controller will automatically turn the fan on when the temperature in the radiator is 180* NOT THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE. This is where everyone gets confused. If I start my engine and my temperature gauge sais 200* then I need to add the jumpers to lower the temperature. Very very cool little system. Cant wait until my surge protector arrrives so I can hook this up and ditch the crappy relay.
