      Fat lip?

Anyone have a photographic example of the same wheel in fat and non-fat lip design?

I don't quite get what the difference is.

      Vintec with classic hoop:

      Vintec with soft lip:

Notice the difference? There are no "steps" between the outer edge of the hoop and the face of the wheel.

One has the tradiyional "stepped" lip, the fat lip is smooyh to the edge of the wheel.

Fat lip gives a 17" wheel the look of 18" so you can run a little more sidewall and still have a big wheel look.I think they look great!!!!!

They also cut down on clearance for break caliper clearance.

if that you mean by 0.20"@max back space. Other wise The Fat-Lip outer has a larger ID @ min back space than a traditional lip.

Uh no. It has a larger ID on the outboard side of the rim, but it still has the hump. It was just moved more towards the center of the rim. Hence the less brake caliper clearance. Ask Larry about that.

I love the Fat/Soft lip design, but it does have a draw back. I found this out after I received my BOYD "FURY" wheels (17x8 up front). If you are running C5 rotors (13") and Z06 calipers you will have to grind some of the height off of the fins on the caliper. They drag just ever so slightly. There is a step on the inside of my wheels that the caliper interferes with. I did notice in the pics above in the earlier post that those wheels have the same inner lip that I am refering to. I don't know if ever Fat/Soft lip wheel has this issue or not but mine did. It wasn't a big deal to fix it was just unexpected.
