after i graduated high school in Ashland, Oregon in 1991 i decided to travel the country. I left Ashland with 300.00 in a 1965 ford truck with a 15' travel trailer. I stopped in Los Angeles with under 100.00 in my pocket i got some work as a carpenter 2 weeks later i got paid and i was gone....of to the next town and the next job. I did this for almost a year before finding myself in Morristown TN just a hop away from Ober Gatlinburgh, Pigeon Forge, Seveirville, and oh yes Dollywood. Of all the places ive seen there is nothing quite like Eastern TN and the Smoky Mtns. The people are just, well, good people. I ended up staying in TN for 3 years and worked for a company in Morristown (McGuffin Truss). To all of you who have never been.......GO......it will be one of the most memorable trips you will ever take and you will thank me later....

Small world Billy, I have bought trusses from McGuffin. I also buy equipment from Massengill. Sounds like you need to move back and me get you on the Tourism Dept. lol

Some people were born here and take this place for granted. I chose to move and live here about ten years ago now, for the same reasons you mentioned, just a great place to be. I try never to take the mountains for granted and always try to at least once a day, have a good look at them.

I do miss the calm manner in which everything is done down there. it seems everyone around here is always in a hurry, never really taking the time to just relax and take a deep breath. I will eventually move back that way, probably to retire and get away from all the hurry up and wait mentality.
