Pigeon Forge TN Event a Must

I travel a lot. One of my favorite things to do while on the road is to hook up with fellow members. During my eastern TN trip this week, I visited Bill Howell and his lovely wife in Pigeon Forge. All I can say is wow! It ain't the Big Apple. But as far as Pro-Touring event destinations go--it's the perfect town.

Picture a 3 or 4 mile long strip that's flanked on either side by every possible restaurant, arcade, funhouse and novelty shop. There are hotels everywhere, so room prices are held down by healthy competition. The neighboring town, Gaitlinsburg, is a picturesque village located right at the base of the Smokey Mountains. It has a Swiss Alps village kind of feel. Great for people watching while enjoying an ice cream cone or cigar.

And the roads!! Turn left, turn right--doesn't matter where you turn. You will be greeted by twisty, windy, hilly roads. They seem to just go on forever. And if you get popped for speeding, just tell the nice officer that you're Bill Howell's brother-in law, or sister, or cousin. Who could ask for more?

I must admit, I didn't get the whole Pigeon Forge concept last year. I figured that it was just the town that was close to the guy that was organizing the event. Now I get it. Even if you are located far away, fly in and catch a ride in a buddy's car.

If there is a Second Annual Pro-Touring.com Tour In the Hills, don't miss it.

Thank you Bill and Melinda Howell for showing me a big time. I'm sorry I lifted your wallet.
