where to start on suspension

been reading posts on subframe connectors & full frame builds.
i have purchased tony huntimer book on how to build pro-touring street machines & read several times. this book is great. i was trying to go with a full-frame chassis for my 79 z28. i have looked at chris alston's chassis works & art morrison's. i can't tell if would be easier to do all the custom fabricating work a full chassis would involve or using seperate rear & front subframes with subframe connectors. the car will have gm572 620hp/650 ft lbs torque with tremec 5 speed. any info would be greatly appreciated.
i'm lost in the world of chassis parts!!!!!
