Are these sizes going to look ok together?

      245/40/18 front

      and

      315/30/18 rear

I worry that the front tires are going to look "thicker" than the backs and hence bigger (taller)..

      Thoughts?

Wish Nitto made more damn sizes..

Why so thin up front? The 21st can fit 275s, no? It's only .2 of an inch difference, it won't be hardly noticeable. Just FYI, though -- it's a 315/30/18. I WISH someone made a 315/35/18 in an R-compound (or a 335/35/18).

Naw Steve, they'll look fine. The front should have a 98 high sidewall and the rear should have a 110 high sidewall. The overall heights should be almost identical with 25.6" for the front and 25.4" for the rear. Mine are almost the same with 245/40-17 and 335/35-17, but they look good together. How wide are your rims, since that also has an effect on "the look".

      Nice catch Ralph...
Steve, so the rear sidewall will be infitessimaly smaller. Put more air in the back tires... LOL

Penny has 275's now.. I think the 21st century sub will handle the wider tires but I am running stock inner fenderwells.. I wish they made a 275/35 or a 245/35.. I like the lower profile look. I keep asking Nitto to make a 335.. maybe we need a petition

      I feel your pain on the 335 R-compound deal.. Doesn't Hoosier make a 335 R-Compond tire.

I try to use Nitto though..

You can always run the 555RII in a 305/35/18 which will give you a 26.30 diameter and then run the 245/40/18 555's on the front. Or is that going to create too much traction/steering issues at the track. If that doesn't work maybe you throw some of your "Media Weight" around and have them you build some.

Yea, I saw what it said "on paper" only a few tenths difference but sometimes it's "how if actually looks" rather than "how it works out on paper".. did that make sense?

I can't remember the last time I ran a 40 series tire.. lol.. just seems so "thick"..

I could always have the front tires shaved..

I'd sign the petition for a 335 . It's odd that they don't make a 275/35, that's an incredibly popular size for most American performance cars (running 18s atleast).

I try to use Nitto though..
Yeah, I like Nitto as well, but their sizes are far too limited. I was wanting to run Nittos on my SS but they didn't make a 295/35/18 so I had to go with the Kumhos.

It hurts enough going DOWN to a 315.. I have room for up to a 355 if anyone made them.. lol

In a perfect world I would run 335's in the back and 275's up front. After all, who needs turning radius..

Hmmmm. If those are anything like the Ecsta MX I've got on my SS, I'd buy them without question. I'm extremely happy with the Ecsta MX which is basically Kumhos top street tire (before the R-compounds). Those Ecsta V70A are also lighter than Michelin Pilot Sports for their respective sizes. 29.8 vs 32lbs for the 335. They don't make a 275/35/18 though! I guess you just can't have your cake and eat it too.

edit: Also it says these are the step above the V700, it seems most "amateur" sanctioning bodies for auto-x and track events use the V700 because they're fairly priced and handle excellent. I guess that would be a good way to gauge their performance. I'll definitely have to look into these further.

Steve, I may be wrong but BFG makes the G-Force KDW-2 in a 275/35/18 and 335/30/18. That would look awsome on Penny. Its on newstalgia's website...

Last I heard was that BFG hadn't produced the 335/30/18 yet I think they are shooting for a end of Feb, early MArch time frame.

That's probably right. BFG usually schedules their exotic tires for February.

      What's wrong with Michelins,Steve?

Steve, I'm with USAZR1. What's wrong with Michelin's? You can run the PS Cups (r compound autox tire). Then you could run the 345's in the rear and 265 or 285's up front (don't know if the 285's would work). Check it out.
If you want your wish you will have to go with Toyo RA 1's. Another R compound tire for autoxing. You can get your 335 for the rears and 275 for the front. I think it's 335/30 and 275/35. I have a set on my daily driven MB and I love em'. Great tire, and they own Nitto.

      Link to the Toyos?

Nothing "wrong" with the pilot sports on the car now.. I just wanna run r-compounds. Also, I would rather run an advertisers tire over a non-advertisers tire and besides, I really like the NT01 tire..

Link to the Toyos?? I can't find those on thier website..

      Thanks

      Hmm.. I found them..

I like these sizes better but I like the NT01's better.. the Toyos would most likely be better in any rain as well.

      Thanks!

The NT01 came after the Ra1's. It's a good tire as well, just not as many size options. It's the same as the RA1 just a different tread pattern. I have been able to pull low 1.6 60's in my 4100 MB with the 275 RA1's. BTW, I was talking about the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, it is an R compound tire if that helps. Good luck

Thanks, yea, I knew what Michelins you were talking about. I would rather just use Nitto or Toyo if I have a choice though

I'm sure they will eventually have more NT01 sizes..
