      Most Cost effective cooling solution

      Ok

I am gathering parts for my Swap, I have seen lots of folks supporting the Ron Davis Radiator route and for sure it looks like a sweet setup. Of course for that set up with dual fans, etc. You need to spend $1k.

      What are the other options?

others have used the Lincoln mark 4 and trimmed it.

i went with dual fans with separate temp controllers/relays. ether way the above link will keep your ride cool and it wont kill the wallet.

      thanks for the reply

Looks like $600 for the Jegs set up, almost the point of saying do you spend the other $400 and get the Ron Davis set up?

Always seems to be for a few hundred more you can do this!

Ha too little money and too little time.

Actually the cheapest route would be to install a 4th gen f-body LS1 radiator and dual fans. Get them from a wrecked car and you are set. Well, except for fabricating brackets.

AFCO has a new low cost LS1 radiator they are offering. I just did a press release on it. I thought the price of the radiator was in the $400 range. Oh, and they polish it for free. You might want to check them out if your on a tight budget.

You could always look at it this way:

the dual fans from flex-a-light will keep the front of your radiator clean as it will suck them bugs right through.

I've got about $650, including welding, in mine. Cost does not include cooler lines or or oil filter adapters.

I have the dimensions of the Mark VIII fan on my site in the engine section. Excuse the ugly engine. That will be getting an update before April along with quite a few other things. http://www.adfabdesign.com/Illusion/Engine/Engine.html

What exactly is a DC controller? Is it used to kick on the fans?

I dont know all the specific details of the DC controller. Yes it kicks the fans on and basicly replaces relays and temperature sending units. I bought mine from Jabin (gmachinz)
I havent installed it yet but I am looking forward to doing that as soon as I finish my exhaust and bumper set up.

What does something like this cost? I can't use dc as a search word to look for it. I am going to go in a similar build to yours and much of what I do will be very similar to what you do.

      Thanks

With even a universal aluminum radiator, a Mark VIII fan and a progressive DC controller, you can't build a better system for the money which you're looking at a touch over $400 altogether. -Jabin

Well, maybe I should have said for all NEW parts it's an unbeatable system/price. There are a few Tauruses in the junkyards but I have yet to see a '98 Mark VIII in there. The progressive controllers are worlds apart from a relay triggered system but you can check on that info by doing a search. The DC controllers are OBDII compliant as well. -Jabin
