      Euro dvds on US players?

I bought some formula one dvds on ebay, they wont play on my playstation and they freeze up on my mac. The seller says they are PAL and region 0, would they play on most dvd players? I would buy a regular dvd player if I knew they would play on it, does anyone have any experience with pal region 0?

Region 0 just means they're not region encoded - most commercial DVDs are region-locked so they'll only play on players from a given area (Region 1 is USA/Canada, for example).

The PAL is the problem, more than likely - that's the european TV signal spec and it's different from our standard (NTSC). If you were on a PC and not on a Mac, I could suggest some programs to rip the DVD to an AVI so you could at least watch it on your computer or reencode it to NTSC so you could watch it on your TV - but with the Mac I just don't know.

Edit: not sure where that last "if you" came from.

Take one to Best Buy or Circuit City and try it out. If it works, you can buy a cheap player for $75. If the DVD's are encoded or encrypted you can try DVD Shrink to decode them. Google "DVD Shrink" to get it. You will need a DVD burner on your puter to make a copy though. That may work.

My phillips plays anything I throaw at it. I have a lot of PAL-format bootleg rock videos, all play with no issue.

      Check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers for player reviews.

I play a lot of Pal PS2 games and JAP PS2 games. I use a magic Swap disk to play them. It is only $20.00. Movies would play the same way with the swap disk since most PS2 games are actually DVD format.

My buddie had this problem and went to a local video production company that re-recorded it onto another disc in USA format, cost him $5.00 MORE than the origional DVD but it was worth it!

I work all over manhattan , I can buy U.S. porn all day long. They cleaned up 42nd street but there is still smut available.

Not europorn, even sadder, formula one footage from 1979 to 1982.

That was when men were men and drove with their right foot and their sac.

Funniest porn titles, "XXX files" (with moldy and scummy) "Pulp friction", "Saving ryans privates", last but not least "E.T. the extra testicle". There were a bunch of others, all real, that i forgot.
