      200R4 Conversion- Crossmember

200R4 mount is further forward than the TH350- how close are they to a TH400? Would the TH400 crossmember work? I have seen aftermarket crossmembers that say they will fit both 200r4 and TH400, so in my never ending quest to say a buck...

On my 73 Nova I used a Th400 crossmember from a 70 big block Camaro and used the frame holes one set back from the TH350 holes. The mounting pad ended up almost right under the TH200 mount.
After much research, consideration, and experimentation, I have decided that adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity.

I will have to look at the subframe, I did not realize there were additional mounting holes. That would be handy!

I did the swap from the 200r4 to the TH350 for a friend about 2 years ago. I just moved the crossmember forward, re-drilled holes, and I made all the brackets for his shifter linkage. He already had the tranny so the swap was free. I am all about saving myself and others money.
However he hates it now because he has 3:73 gears still in the rear and now the TH350 tranny.
Ironic, I was just talking about this in another thread.

Adam, it must be a "great minds" thing :-) That is funny, I am going the opposite route 2.73 to 3.42 otherwise I would have to upgrade to a stroker to push freeway speeds!

3.42 will be a good rear end for your set up with the TH350. Thats if your rear tire is around 26" in diameter. 26" is the average that everyone is running.
