      Help with LS3 initial crank

I'm getting ready to start my GM LS376 "Connect and Cruise" engine for the first time and I'm having trouble getting oil pressure. I have the spark plugs and fuel disconnected and when I crank it I'm getting zero oil pressure. I've read that LS's take a while to get primed with oil, but after cranking it about six times over several minutes I'm getting nothing. I'm afraid to damage anything by continuing to crank it. I've read about "force priming" it and it seems straight forward. For those that have done LS swaps, what did you do to get oil pressure?? Will I do any damage if I crank it some more in short bursts?? Should I remove the 8mm Allen plug by the timing cover and pour some oil in?? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm scared to damage this thing.

I used the cheap pump sprayer trick to prime using the allen plug, i also removed the valve covers and placed oil on the valve train/ top end prior to starting
