New member: '72 Pontiac Firebird build
Hello everyone!
I'd like to introduce our '72 Firebird 400:
Since getting the car we've put quite a bit of work into the interior using OER parts: new carpet, replaced rear panels, new center console, new steering wheel and shift knob, and a new headliner was already done by the previous owner before the sale. Dashboard is still partially on the list. We also swapped out the aftermarket headers that a previous owner had fitted for exhaust manifolds from Ram Air Restoration because we were (and actually still are) running into ground clearance problems.
The car currently sits on Year One 17x9 Snowflake wheels all around and has a rear spoiler fitted. The next big step is a CPP Pro-Touring Kit Stage IV, which includes tubular control arms, dual-adjustable coilovers up front, dual-adjustable shocks in the rear, front and rear sway bars, and the full big brake package. After that we want to step up to 18" front and 19" rear, which is actually what brought us here. We have questions about rear wheel width and fitment without going mini-tubbed.
Longer term the plan includes a color change, and eventually either a Butler Pontiac V8 for character or something like an LS swap for convenience and power. A Tremec T56 is also on the list.
Looking forward to learning from the community and hopefully contributing back once we're further along.
