Anyone Know Anything About Vintage Trans Am? '71 Javelin Build

I have a very nice '71 Javelin that I'm building into a road racer. This was not raced in Trans Am in the 70's, so it's not eligible to race with the original Trans Am cars. However, there seem to be a few classes that I could race in, and I'm wondering if anyone has any more information on these.

      • Vintage Trans-Am (V-T/A): A specific, popular class created for 1960s-70s era cars, which operates as a SCCA San Francisco Regional class, allowing competition on tracks like Laguna Seca and Sonoma. https://www.autoxandtrack.com/vintage-trans-am-racing/ Created in 2022, Vintage Trans-Am (V-T/A) is a throwback to 1960s and 1970s trans-am racing without strict adherence to vintage spec or requiring a proven vintage pedigree. V-T/A seeks to fill a gap in current groups where older generation moderately modified vehicles are left out. These cars are often not allowed in strict vintage race groups and lack competitiveness against newer vehicles. Currently, V-T/A is a SCCA San Francisco Regional class which runs on Laguna Seca, Sonoma Raceway and Thunderhill. I'm in San Antonio, Texas, so that's too damn far for me, I think.

      • SVRA Group 6: This group represents the "Golden Age" of SCCA A&B Production and over 2-liter Trans-Am cars, with rules adhering to standards from 1972 or earlier. Selected big-bore production sports cars and sedans through 1972. Examples: Corvette, Shelby GT-350, Cobra, Mustang, Camaro, Jaguar XKE, Barracuda, Cougar, Griffith, Porsche 911 https://svra.com/wp-content/uploads/...oup_6_1_26.pdf

      • "U.S. Vintage Trans-Am" (USVTA): While often run at regional SCCA events, this is a distinct, often more accessible, rules-based series focused on creating an affordable, competitive, and visually accurate throwback to the original 1966-1972 era.

I'm hoping to find a series that has races in/near Texas and hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg to build the car. The build would either be a 401 that I already have or if I need to stay at/under 5 liters, I could build a 304. Trans would either be a close ratio T-10 or, if allowed, a TKX. The rear diff would either be an AMC 20, or, if allowed, a Ford 9".
