Connect and Cruise system with Holley 12.3

      Hi Everyone,

I've read through a lot of posts here and there is some amazing information.

I'm hoping to get some direction/input on where I'm at on my build.

I have a 1971 Nova that I have the Speedtech Performance Pro Touring complete kit. I also have a a Chevy Performance connect and cruise LS376/525 with a T 56 Magnum transmission. The Nova has a 1969 Camaro dash assembly installed and I'm working on planning out the dash bezel and gauges. I've seen a lot of people use the Nova dash pad on the Camaro dash assembly and that is my goal.

My hiccup is figuring out what dash bezel to use. I was thinking of using the Dakota Digital HDX (or RTX) gauge kit with the console but I would have to purchase the dash bezel that either has the Camaro badging or put in the clock in the middle of the speedo and tach. I didn't really consider the Holley 12.3 dash since the whole connect and cruise kit was complete but I like the way options for the 12.3 dash bezel, which would remove the concern regarding the clock/Camaro badging.

If I go with the Holley 12.3 dash, will I have any issues with the connect and cruise? Am I replacing parts on the connect and cruise or will the Holley work with the system? I'm mechanically inclined but tuning is an area that I haven't adventured into at this point.

I see a lot of posts about the pros of the Holley if I want to add a supercharger in the future but I'm trying to figure out compatibility issues/concerns with using the Holley system?

Anyone done anything like this before that can help point me in the right direction or have any suggestions?

Camaro badging between the speedo and tach? It's been more decades than I care to count since I last looked at the dash on an early Camaro, but I'm pretty sure that's the gear indicator for automatics with a blanking plate for sticks.

Can't help on the Holley electrodash, as I like my analog gauges and never really looked into it.

This is what I was referencing. It says Camaro in the middle of the bezel. May look a little weird being it is in a Nova.

Whoops, I missed that 69 on the Camaro and was looking at the 71.

Looks like there is an option to put the fuel gauge there too.

It also looks like that Camaro badge might be removable, so a Nova badge could be made and installed there.

On my 68 elco it has Chevelle in the middle, just like the Camaro dash. On the factory bezel the Chevelle was cast into the bezel. On the replacement the Chevelle was separate and you had to install it. There were a couple of holes in the bezel where it went. If that is the case with your replacement maybe you could find someone to 3D print a Nova to fit.

I don't think the Holley will do a direct integration, you will likely need the standalone version and have to tap into the connect and cruise harness for data. User Andrewb70 could tell you for sure. He does work for Holley.

I do not work for Holley, but I do have my own Holley EFI tuning business.

To answer the original question, the Holley dash is not compatible with the GM ECUs over CAN bus.

Look into these guys if your looking for a customizable digital dash. I don't have any experience with them, just one of the companies that I flagged for when I get to that point....

Go RTX and get the BIM module, literally plug and play. Only downside is it plugs into your OBD port, so if you went to tune/ datalog you wouldn't have gauges.

With the BIM module it pulls all the info off the ecm, don't have to run seperate sending units. You can connect to the gauges via Bluetooth and set up warnings, colors, etc. If I had the money, that's where I'd put it. Just wired 2 cars in a row with RTX gauges and it's just fueled the fire.

I don’t know of many (or any) vendors that make a bezel for the Nova that will hold the 12.3 dash
(I have seen bezels for the 6in dash). If you go that route, you will need the stand alone version of the 12.3 dash and have to get the sensors (water, temp, etc.) and wire them into the 12.3 dash. You will also need the GPS sensor as the standalone dash does not work with the GM ecu (as mentioned above).
