QA1 4 link Issue
I recently purchased QA1’s 4 link kit (R256-170) for my 1969 Camaro project. Along with the QA1 kit I am installing DSE mini tubs and narrowing the 9in rear end to fit a custom offset wheel.
The issue I ran into is the upper and lower mounting brackets that attach to the axle housing (pictures attached) don’t fit. It appears the QA1 brackets are designed for a 12 bolt axle and do not work on a ford 9 inch housing which I have in my car. I reached out to QA1 about the issue (nice people) and after some checking they suggested I purchase their 9in housing kit which comes with the correct brackets already welded on for $1,900. Obviously that’s a no go. After some more discussion with QA1 they referred me to Quick Performance who supply’s them with this particular housings in hopes they would sell me the brackets. I called Quick Performance (again nice people) but after some checking they informed me they were not willing to sell the brackets alone and suggested I purchase the entire housing.
Currently scratching my head weighing my options. I am thinking I can make a template out of cardboard, transfer that to metal and have a fab shop make them for me.
What do you guys think?
You can see how this bracket does not fit on the 9in housing.
Once I narrow my axle (3in per side) to accommodate the new wheels it will hit the plate on this bracket.
Here are the brackets I need.
This is the package I have

If it was me id be selling the 9inch thats in the car and ordering the narrowed one with the brackets. As I am not sure there's much cost savings with the time and materials to have some one make those brackets and the cost to narrow vs selling and ordering what you need.
