Aftermarket T56 with Viper output shaft - do I have an issue here?

A respected and knowledgeable vendor in our hobby alerted me to a possible issue on my T56 that I bought about 15 years ago from a forum member. It has the Viper 30 spline output shaft, but that shaft is sticking out 2" beyond the end of the case.
The vendor noted that back in the mid-late 2000's there were vibration and 'shudder' issues that focused around units with this same 1.375" of 'more than normal' output shaft sticking out. He expects only 5/8" to be showing. Then there is the possibility of incorrect depth yokes or bad length measurements.
He noted that this puts the U-joint that much farther out which would/could be the cause of some vibration or shudder. (not to mention possibilities of some folks not having the proper length yoke or mis-measuring their driveshaft length needs.)

So, I'm wondering if anyone recalls an issue like this, or if they can confirm this isn't ideal and should be addressed. Perhaps I just need a different tail-housing? But if so, which one?!? Is there a different 'fix'?
There is a chance this is a T56 from the old ATS/American Touring Specialties back when they had the T56 kit days. I have packaging - but no invoices or receipts. I believe I had evidence that showed this to be a 2002 F-body unit, and reportedly upgraded internally, as the Viper shaft seems to confirm.

I agree, that does have more stick out than what's considered "normal" however, as long as you have enough engagement with the splines and enough room for articulation I'd run it. Is there anyway that you can confirm the transmission is in good working condition? If it's something you are very concerned about, you could always carefully trim it down to the length you want. I've had a TR6060 apart, and there's really no way to get them assembled back together with it that far off. Something wouldn't function internally, so I'd be surprised if it was assembled incorrectly.

Thanks RyeGuy, I appreciate your reply and input.

I'm still in the dark about 'why' or 'how' this T56 came to have a tail shaft that sticks out so far.

I called RPM Transmissions in Indiana and they noted having seen it a few times. They said they'd cut it down with a cut-off wheel, re-chamfer the end and put in a new seal and run it. So, that's what's happening.
I got lucky and found a used 30 spline shaft on Ebay that I picked up for $30. It helped validate that the entire slip yoke can slip into the trans housing so *I guess* everything will be ok. We'll see.
