      CTS-V/ ZL1 Brembo wheel fitment

Anybody have experience running the Big 6 piston Brembo calipers from the 2nd gen CTS-v and ZL1 Camaros on US mag wheels. I've got 18" US mags U127 rambler wheels and am looking at some of the big boy Brembo's but I'm not sure they'll fit on my current set up. any feedback would be appreciated,

      Thanks

Update…probably won’t fit. aside from the caliper thickness the cts-v six piston brembos require 14” rotors too which will almost assuredly hit the inside of a 18” rim. I think the ZL1s and CTS-V ran minimum 19” wheels. I’m gonna probably go with newer Camaro 4 piston Brembos. Which should fit with my current set up.

They actually use a 14.6 rotor and yes they do fit into a 18, better than the 4 piston set ups actually. This is a C5 thin spoke wheel from the rear, it is a 18, same 14.6 6 piston as the V2 and ZL1 5th gen

Thanks for the info! I’m looking into this myself.

This would be my dream setup. CTS-V brakes front and rear on a 72 Chevelle

I see the original post is over a year old but I recently tried 6th Gen 4 piston Camaro calipers, C7 13.6" rotors, and BigBrakeUpgrade brackets on my 69 Camaro. I have 18x8" Ramblers and a set of Torque Thrust wheels that will not fit. They wont even work with a 1" spacer because of how much the caliper sticks out to the side and the rotor slips over the hub instead of being mounted on the back side of it. They would need a heavily offset wheel with a thick spacer, or a custom made set. I plan on trying to move the caliper inward by using a deeper hat rotor or finding a rotor that I can modify to mount on 68-69 two piece disc brake hubs. I would then have to make custom brackets.

Thanks, that's what I assumed. The idea had still been rattling around in my head because those Brembo conversions are so cheap to put together compared to some of the other options from Wilwood but not if I need to get new wheels too.

So I have the 4 pot c7 zr1 brembos, still a 14" rotor and wide calipers, I ordered extra backspacing so I could run spacers on my 18s so the spokes would clear the calipers. This is on a 68 chevelle with speedway g-comp spindles using bigbrakeupgrade brackets btw. I've got the full set, using camaro rear backing plates to have parking brakes.

I have the exact calipers as you. Do you remember what backspace wheels and the thickness of the spacers? They look great BTW.

22 offset on a 9.5" wheel, so something like a 6.25" backspacing, right now I have a 20mm spacer, but a 10mm would clear. Oh, I meant z51, that's what I went with for the rotors front and rear, found an unlabeled powerstop kit for the pads and rotors. I painted the centers black (even though they don't need it) cause I liked the look. You'll also need 1/2"x at least 3" wheel studs.

To mount these calipers on the afx spindles is pretty tricky. You have to mount at least the top of the bracket to the caliper otherwise when it's mounted, you can't tighten the bolt with an h12 socket.

Thanks for the info. I plan on trying to mount the calipers more inward but if I can't make that work then I will probably do the same as you did.
