      Hey All,

Stretch here. Thanks for having me on the forum. I'm building my '69 Camaro RS/SS that I've had for 49 years. I originally bought it in 1975 I believe. No motor, tranny, or front clip when I bought it. I built it and drove it in the 70's and 80's until wife, kids, house, and career took priority. It's always had a SBC in it. Currently I'll probably freshen up the 350 that I ran in it last. It ran in the high 12s in the quarter mile with that engine. I'm thinking about going with a Holley Sniper instead of the carb I had on it back then. Running a Muncie 4 speed and 12 bolt with 4.56 gears. I may do an LS and 5 or 6 speed some day, but just want to get it back on the road for now and have some fun driving it. I just finished replacing the floor pan, as it rusted out from being stored in damp barns over the years. That actually went well for my first time attempting something like that.

I'm debating putting a 4 link in the rear and getting rid of the leaf springs. Not sure yet, but it's on the rotisserie right now, so it would be a good time to do it. When I bought it in '75 it had some good looking rear flares on it. The flares are more of a 70's and 80's thing, so I want to replace the rear quarter panels back to the stock look and mini tub it...again since its on the rotisserie now would be the time, but I want to drive it with the flares for a while since that's how it was when I was a kid. It will be more work to tear it down again and do it later, but oh well....as I've said, I just want to get it back on the road and have some fun driving it. LOL

I like the idea of flush glass and need to replace the front windshield anyway. Any tips on that would be appreciated. I'll check the forum to see what I can find.

The body is in good shape and doesn't need much work other than making all the gaps nice and skimming it so it's nice and smooth. Not sure what color I'm going to paint it. It's always been red. I painted it garnet red with gold stripes when I first built it and repainted it a brighter red since then, but never had it on the road since the second paint job. I have in-floor heat in my shop, which I really like, but I don't have a paint booth. Being in Wisconsin, I'll have to wait until summer to do any significant painting since I don't have air make-up if I'd make a temporary booth in my shop. I'm hoping to have it on the road by late summer '24.

I have a '55 Chevy second series truck that I'm kind of excited to get working on after the Camaro. Other than those two vehicles my daily driver is a Silverado, or a 2013 Camaro SS from May-November. My wife has a Silverado too, so you can tell I'm a Chevy guy. I had two of '57 Chevys in the 70's which got traded for the 69 Camaro.

I'm looking forward to checking out the site.
