      67 Camaro C6/Z06 brakes Help Backspacing

      Hello!



      I've searched the forums up and down and am trying to square away the backspacing I need for the custom wheels I'm planning to purchase. I have pretty good idea of what I think I need but want some help from other who have more experience. I'm a total amateur who's been reading these forums for years and can usually figure stuff out. But I'm just scared in getting the wheel offset wrong when spending $5k on a set of custom rims.

      Specs:
      67 Camaro
      Front:
      ridetech upper/lower control arms
      ridetech Coilovers
      C6/Z06 Brakes 14 in Rotor
      AFX spindles
      Rear:
      Will be installing Ridetech 4 link
      Currently have lowering Hotchki leaf springs
      NOT tubbed and does not have rolled fender lips
      10 bolt rear end

      I need help in determining the correct offset so I don't rub or hit my fender wells with it being lowered. For the front wheel with the C6/Z06 brakes it needs 1.7 inches from the mounting surface to clear the calipers. My goal is to get the wheels tucked in enough to avoid any worry of hitting my fender lips. I think I know what I need for the rear, but will take any advice!

      I'm thinking minimum 5inch offset for the front, but wondering if I need to go in more? If do 5in offset and have the wheel built to fit the brakes I won't need the 1 inch spacer. So this combo will bring in the wheel 1.5 inches. The pics currently have Boss 338 with a 4.5 inch offset and 1inc spacer.
      Do I need more??? Thoughts, critiques, advice??? Let me know if you need more info.

      You could always buy or rent the wheel tool to measure your car to be exact.

      What I've seen thats pretty common is 18x8 with 4.75 to 5.25 of backspace in the front.

      +6mm offset regardless of wheel width to center wheels in the tub for first gens. Adjust as needed for any offset added by aftermarket brakes. Use a calculator to convert offset to backspacing for a given wheel width.

      Hey Don - Thanks for responding to this question and my other on another thread so I'll combine my responses.

      I have the stock subframe. Currently the front tires are almost even with the outside/paint side of the upper fender lip. When I go with the custom rim it will be moved in 1 inch because I'll remove the spacer. I'm won't have the front any lower than in the pictures. Based off the current wheel with a 4.56 offset I was thinking 5.25 to max 5.5 inch offset so I know I wouldn't have any issues with rubbing. Then I can always have a spacer to push the wheel out. Is that reasonable thinking? This would bring the wheel in 1.75-2 inches which would put the outside edge of the tire inside the fender bolts.


      Question for the rear. I went and took measurements and found I have 6 inches from the hub mounting surface to the inner tub wall. Then I have 11 inches from the non rolled lip to the inner tub wall. My current wheel/tire combo actual width is 10.75 inches.(not rim width). With the current wheel having 5.078 back spacing giving me 1.5 inches of space between the inner tub and the tire.

      I'm thinking rear tire currently needs to come in 1 inch to have the outside of the wheel flush with the non rolled lip. Goal is to not worry about rubbing when its lowered with the 4 link, I don't need the biggest tire possible. Ideas on best way to achieve this?
      My thoughts are increase the backspacing to 5.75 inch and then rim width between 8-9inches down from 9.5. Then not sure one tire.
