      Large touch screen?

So, has anyone incorporated an OEM trype screen?
I have a ram 3500 truck, the wife has Ram TRX, I would like to use something similar in my upcoming build. Incorporate, all the A/c, heat, radio, nav, and other controls. I have been looking around and I'm not finding anything. I even was looking at aviation stuff to see if I could find something over there.
      any thoughts?

putting this in a late 40's early 50's puck-up, with an art deco type interior, the plan is to have a consul, and the unit be behind a aluminum accordion type roll up door.

To use an OE screen and utilize the functions is going to require a CAN module. Most OE radio's (Ram for sure) uses the J1939 high speed CAN bus, which is the mandated CAN protocol for OE cars. You'll need an ECU that can accept J1939 CAN (Holley will NOT!). It's a tedious process, basically tying into the CAN bus and using a program to sift through the data as you select functions from the radio. Every function has an ID and address, you just have to find it in the code. They make "CAN sniffer" programs to help with this, but it's still tedious.

There are a few tuners out there that have decoded the Mustangs' radio and Collin Murphy has done the 8.4 Ram radio. The cool part is, once this has been done, these inputs from buttons can be reassigned in your new ECU. This is how you see those same Mustangs and Vipers being able to display data on the screen from the new ECU, and use existing steering wheel buttons for radio volume, cruise, etc. to be able to control traction control and launch control in the aftermarket ECU.

      It's going to be expensive!

Since you mentioned build I’m going to assume it’s not for a late model car. Easiest way is to get an Android tablet or an IPad. For HVAC controls you’ll need to buy the restomod air unit. They have a Bluetooth app for android and iPad. For radio, you can get a Bluetooth amp again the android/iPad will control the amp. You can also buy a cheap head unit like Sony or pioneer that have apps, hide the headunit in the trunk or glove box etc. Again Bluetooth controlled via iPad/android. If you do an LS swap and have OBD port yiu can get an OBD Wi-Fi or Bluetooth dongle then use an app like torque to create a gauges, clear and read trouble codes etc.
