Font end turn in and out

Working on lower control arms and trying to get wider front tires and wondered what is the minimum or optimum number of degrees of turn in and turn out before either hitting the chassis or lower control arm? I assume that when the car is driving straight, it is at zero.

From the response, I assume it's a stupidly obvious question/answer or no one knows the answer to it. Which is it? I don't know what I don't know.

      The question is worded oddly.

If you are asking about steering angle, somewhere between 25 and 30 degrees seems to be the right answer. That is wheel base dependent, the longer your wheel base the more angle you need.

      More is better

If you're in doubt and don't want to do the math, it's a pretty easy thing to test if you have another car around with a similar wheelbase. See how many steering wheel turns equate to your proposed maximum road wheel angle (likely a little over a turn in either direction) and try to get around your driveway or a parking lot without exceeding that limit. I like to use brightly colored masking tape on the steering wheel and dashboard to make the "fake limits" visually obvious.

Cars with limited steering angle are frustrating, at least to me, so it's worth the time to get it right.
