      Painless wiring/ neutral safety switch

I just got done wiring my dads 1939 Chevy with an ls6/4l60e combo with a painless wiring kit. It has a rear mount battery with a ford starter solenoid in line. It has an old style 4l60 neutral safety switch. The car will not crank but all the other circuits I tested work. My question is, will the neutral safety switch allow cranking in any gear with the switch unplugged? Thank you

I would think it will not crank in any gear with the neutral safety switch unplugged. You would have to jumper across it.

Perfect, thank you! I think this may be another issue associated. The linkage on the trans is upside down, so I think the trans may be in gear as well. I’m going to switch the linkage and re connect the NSS and see what happens. Unfortunately, the brand new starter died on us.
