      T56 shifter that doesn't leak????

Is there a T56 shifter that doesn't leak? Talking with Jody and one of his friends about shifters, here's a quote from his friend "
I bought the American Powertrain offset shifter. I bought the white lightning shifter. I bought the Hurst shifter and I bought the quick shifter off of eBay and they all friggin leak."

He is now running the STX from Silver Sport with no leak, yet.. Anyone else have any experience with T56 shifters?

I finally got around to taking the car out for a drive. Logged 38 minutes of drive time around backroads and city so that I could go through the gears some. I know there is much more testing to be done in order to call it good; but I am pleased to report that after a couple hours of setting time, the basement floor is dry. I will try to remember to update the thread when I get some real miles on her. As for now, I can put away my shop rags.

I found that I saw the most leakage after a highway run. Seems at highway speeds for a distance, the oil gets slung up on the shifter shaft more than just cruising around town.

I see. On mine, it would leak even if i drove around the block. Once it started leaking, you could bet your bottom dollar that the basement floor had fluid on it no matter how you drove it or how far you drove it.

I have the new design white lightning shifter from American Powertrain. After 700 miles I caught some minor leakage from the shifter area. Turned out the top 4 bolts on the shift tower came loose. I took the whole thing apart to replace the gasket I thought had failed, only to find those bolts loose. That was a whole lot of work for nothing.

That said, I believe the old white lightning shifters had leakage issues from a design flaw. This new one seems like a solid design, though I don’t know why those bolts came loose.Name: E2F21150-93EF-47AC-98AF-512125CC6B26.jpg

Sorry to redresh an old thread but.. has anyone solved this ? Specifically the leaking t56 magnum? I found that tick performance has a shroud they are marketing that may fix the issue by deflecting the oil .

Also read that replacing the vent with a hardline helps.Supposedly Dormen has a plastic line that doesn't collapse. If anyone has that part number or experience with a collapsing vent

I have the bowler night stick shifter, I have added the Tick splash shield, and also installed a hurst base gasket, which has an o-ring printed into it. 1,500 miles and not a hint of a leak now.
