      reskin 68 to a 69?

I'm sure I'm gonna get my azz chewed, but is it possible to reskin a 68 camaro to a 69? (quarters, front sheetmetal, doors?) I know it will give purists a coronary, but I am going to have to replace all that sheetmetal anyways, and thought, why not? Thanks

It's a lot of sheetmetal but it could be done. Outer wheelhouses, taillight panel, full quarters... give it a shot and post some pics.

trunk floor also. yes, you can do a 68, a 67 presents a problem with the door hinges.

Also, will the 68 doors be ok to put on 69 skins?

I looked for years for a good deal(read cheap) on a 69, and never found what I wanted. I came across 2 68's way cheap, and I sold one, and before I sell this one, thought it may be possible to have the 69 I always wanted anyway. This one needs about all the sheetmetal replaced, so I thought why not? I realize that it will not be a true 69, but noone has to know otherwise, unless I tell them.

Why not but a Dynacorn body when the coupes come out, and switch everything over from the 68? They sound expensive at $10k, but by the time you buy all of the sheetmetal to do what you want to do (and spend the time or money to install it), you'll probably save money.

I think you'd need 69 door frames as well - otherwise you'd have a gap where the body crease is on the 69s.

Build the 68 nice and then sell it. With the money you make put it towards the 69 of your dreams.

Or sell me the 68 right now like it is.

that sounds tempting, but if I sell it, there is no guarantee that I will even find a 69 for what I sell the 68 for.

Heck, if you are gonna go that far, why not just buy a tube chassis for a GT1 or NASCAR stocker and skin it with '69 sheetmetal from Goodmark?

You wont. But just suck it up and buy a 69 anyway. If you do a decent job on it you will get a good return on your investment anyways.

doesnt seem worth it to me. You must really want a 69, it has a different dash and everything, I would just build the 68, or find a 69. They arent THAT hard to find..

if you go to sell it there will be a lot of questions and quite a few buyers will be scared off. this happens to the guys who reskin firebirds.

I have always loved the 1st gen camaros, and when I found the 68's at a good price, jumped on them, but the more I look at 69's (mule, Rupp's,etc.) the more I like the lines of them over the 67-68. I have seen some 68's that got my attention (Rupp's, Steilow built), but I still like the 69 body more. Thanks for all the advice, and opinions, I am going to weigh my options, and I will post my decision in a few days.
