Hi all,

I am looking for help to determine a fair market price for the below engine:

Background: I purchased a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro and this motor came with the car. The owner had a shop build it for high performance street. I don't have the paperwork for it anymore. Based on the block number, it is a later model 1986 SBC w/ 4-bolt mains. I later took the oil pan off to verify the internals--to my knowledge the entire lower end is forged quality stuff. I also replaced the intake manifold with a port injection setup as part of a school project to get it to run off of methanol--here is the video of the successful first startup (don't mind the tune, the motor itself runs well): https://youtu.be/ZyxcOvniVqU

Here are the specs as far as I understand them:

  • 1986+ SBC 4-Bolt Main w/ 1-piece rear main seal
  • Forged Rotating Assembly (name brand, but I forget the brand) including H-Beam Rods
  • Moroso Deep Oil Pan
  • AFR Aluminum Heads
  • Roller Lifters and Rockers
  • High Performance Street Cam
  • Edelbrock Tunnel Ram Port Injection Manifold (port-matched to gasket and heads)
  • Edelbrock Throttle Body
  • Runs on 91 Pump Gas
  • Fuel Injectors/Rails not included.

I've put pictures of the engine below.

I am looking to sell the engine because I am (G-d willing) moving to another state, and don't want to deal with transporting it.

Can anyone please help me to get a ballpark valuation that would be fair to the buyer and seller?

Thanks,

Moshe
