Has anyone made their own billet grill?

I want a billet grill for my 68 camaro, but I want it to cover the headlights, kinda RS style. All the grills I have found either don't cover the headlamps, or the full cover versions stick out too far, I want it to recess back 1/2"-1" to look right. The question I have is where do I find the bars, and how long should I expect to have into building it. Thanks

I have built a grille for a car and ill post pics later

First do you have a tig welder? Next if you do, choose the size/shape of the bars you want to use. If you do not have a tig welder then you can do what i did. I used 3/8" square bar and drilled/tapped/countersunk into them and used #8 machine screws to hold it together.

For the aluminum check your phone book for metal supply places and you can see if they carry aluminum stock.

If you do, make sure it will weld AC (alternating current).
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I have a mig, no tig. If you could post up your pictures of yours, I would greatly appreciate it. I just can't see me spending 400 on the ones I have seen that are a full cover.

It wasnt hard at all for this car because i just tapped into the ends of the horizontal bars and those screw in from the inside of the car into the grille.

The whole grille is extremely easy to build, just very time consuming i have about 12 hours in it
