Welcome. Nothing wrong with a 73 Celica, import or not. Front engine, rear wheel drive, max possible curb weight from the factory, just a stock 2015+ Camaro V6 with the 8 speed would get you a power to weight ratio in the 7-8lb/hp range. With that kind of power/weight you'd be tearing people a new one around the track. Besides, while the majority of cars here are NA domestics, there's enough from all continents that "import" doesn't really matter. Start a project thread, let's see where you're going with it.
