      Speedmaster type 9" housings

Is anyone running one of these that can give some feedback. They look cool as hell at a decent price. Any opinions as far as durability compared to a all steel fab 9?

Are you referring to the Speedmaster style with bolt on axle tubes?

I think it was an episode of Hotrod Garage the David Freiburger explained how you could assemble a nice rear end using the Speedway Motorsports 9" rear end, but it wasn't the bolt together style like you may be referring to. I'd also be interested in the durability of bolt on axle tubes.

Weld on your suspension brackets and go:

Yes, the one with the bolt on tubes. There is several different designs for the the aluminum center on ebay. The tds version has steel brackets bolted to the top of the aluminum center so you can weld link brackets to it.Name: Screenshot_2021-02-20-13-44-57.png

What advantage do you believe you will achieve with the bolt on axle tubes? The deal uses a cast aluminum diff housing (will it be any lighter than a braced stamped steel housing? )

No, I have no experience with this housing, and I do not think I will as I'm not seeing a real advantage to the increased complexity

The only advantage I see is it looks cool at a reasonable price. Would look good on a 3 window coupe or street rod where all suspension is exposed. Just my opinion. Would I trust it as much as a fab 9, no. But is probably plenty stout enough for a 400-500 hp cruiser
