      New Drift Camaro Footage

I spent the better part of last week at the D1 GP in Irwindale filming for my new website and figured that footage of the 1969 Camaro would appeal to everyone here on pro-touring.com.

I used quicktime, anyone else having an issue?

Make sure that you have the latest version.

      www.quicktime.com to get it.

The newest quicktime allows better quality and smaller file size, a win, win in my opinion.

Geoff, if you've got the resources you might want to also make it available in something other than Quicktime (and other than Realplayer) - some people absolutely refuse to install one or both of those.

Cant view it. Like mentioned above you should make it available in windows media player too if you want everyone to view it. I think almost everyone has windows media player. With the correct capture device, media player is genearally the best for compressing videos.
I can easily compress a 44mb video down to 3mb with my software and use media player.

The new quicktime makes the smallest files sizes for a given resolution. I think that I will look into putting files into .wmv as well. I have the ability, I am just not sure how to make the page detect which one a user has and play the appropriate video.

There are many people who do not have windows media player, in fact the latest version is not even availible for macintosh and unix machines.

I will see what I can get working as it seems that a lot of people are having issues and I want everyone to be able to see the videos.

For those of you who can't see the video, do you have iTunes?

I can view it just fine. That looks and sounds amazing!!! If drifting falls out of popularity, your buddy can always get a job as a "wheel man"

You could just put 2 videos on your site and put 2 seperate links to them. Title one video as media player and the other as quicktime. WMV is the best. Thats how I crop 40+ mb videos down to 3mb but like I said above I use media player.
I will try a couple different options here at work to view your video.

I just DL the new quick time and watched the video. F@#$ awesome. He has improved his skills a lot in that car since the other videos. What exhaust is on that monster now??? It used to be open headers but it sounds a lot better now. Are they chambered?

No the page won't let me download the file. Just update your quicktime, Dirk. For the rest of you, Quicktime is the industry standard regardless of platform. You can--in fact--download QT for your Windows based system. Works great and downloading the software is free and easy to install Give it a try.

The newest quicktime like to have a powerful computer. When I use WMV is end up with files around 5x the size and of significantly less quality. The new quicktime h.264 codec is really good. Fortunatly it comes with iTunes, so anyone with an iPod or iTunes will be able to see the videos without any issues.

I am starting with files that are more like 1,200 megs + and compressing them. The video that I had on my HD from this week alone is over 5 GB. I wish I had enough bandwidth to share really high quality stuff, but as of now I can not afford to put huge files online.

I just put low resolution copies of all the videos on driftlive.com up and I will do the same for hotrodhomepage tommorow. It takes a while for the computer to output compressed files. (dual 2ghz G5)

As for the exhaust on the camaro, it is still just straight 3" pipes with no mufflers, the biggest differance is most likley that I am shooting with a pd 150 as opposed to a handycam and using the new quicktime compression, which has better sound quality. In person it sounds the same as always.

Yup. I saw it because of my iTunes. Awesome car. Driver has some skills too. I wouldn't mind having that kinda fun myself.
