      1968 mustang fastback project starting

Well the last day and a half, I finally got the time to tear some of this far apart. Overall, I discovered that the car is in pretty decent shape, but does have some rest that you could not see until you start taking pieces off. Here is what I am working with .....

Fortunately the early Mustangs are reproduction part kings. Good luck with the project

So far all the parts that I have purchased have been from CJ Pony parts. I only live less than two hours from them so I can save shipping and their RPM club saves me money a lot of times.

The hardest part to fix will be the A pillar windshield post and outer piece around the hinge. They will have to be fabricated.

Well, having just moved into our new home about 2 months ago, time has not been on my side with the neverending "honey do" list. Lol... anyway, just this past weekens I was able to get away just for a little and got the upper and lower cowl panel removed along with rest of the interior. In the next week or so, I plan to cut quarters off to get ready forna little back yard sandblasting.. ill try to get some pics up a little later this evening or weekend..

Progress will likely be a little slow with nice weather approaching , summer side work, and wrenching on the racecar. But will try to work on it some.

There is going to be some fun metal work aheaf, so we shal see.

are you going to weld or glue on the cowl panel? ive seen quite a few restos on the internet where people blue them on with panel adhesive.

Right now, I'm leaning toward welding them. I know a lot of stuff is glued nowadays, buy most likely welded in place

So after a long summer of work, I finally made a little progress on the fastback. Got the car sand blasted back to the dash. passenger side frame rail repaired. We cut the shock towers in anticipation of the AJE racing front suspension I have yet to purchase. Lol in doing that I decided that I did not like the look of the flat towers so a design was added to somewhat reflect the factory design. Lastly the factory battery apron was replaced with a new piece and the original vin was cut off the old panel and added into the new piece. Hope to have the The other side completed in the coming month or so, but it will be difficult with the holidays
