      '69 Firebird

I just registed today(although I had registered years back as well), and here's my car:

Engine is a 400ci pontiac w/ 670 heads, a 650 Q-jet, a mild cam, and a TH400 trans. The car makes plenty of power so I'll be concentrating most on handling.
My next purchases should be a set of Hotchkis springs/shocks/sways, and a set of as yet undetermined 17" wheels. Then comes the conversion to a 5 or 6speed manual trans.
I havent seen too many Firebirds here yet, so I thought I should post to swell our ranks.

Well according to the PPG paint can I DID in fact paint my car Hugger orange. I was never a fan of the name Carousel Red anyway... there's no way that color can be considered anything close to red, orange as can be.

I have a 69 CR red 400 bird convert also. It needs resto. It was given away as a prize on the Hollywood Squares TV show. Color looks great.

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted this.
The car has been sitting in a field for the last 6 years. The pictures in the first post are actually quite old.

I finally have the car at my new house. I drove it the 2.5 hours there, so I know it's mechanically sound. Suspension is crap though.
My 2 year old son and I have been outside the last week with all our free time cleaning it up, and fixing some minor issues it has. I snapped a picture of the engine after we used a fine grit sandpaper to get the rust and the shiny coating off the valve covers and air cleaner. I never was a fan of chrome, and I like the less shiny finish it now has. We hit it with some clear coat afterwards to keep it from rusting anymore.

Next I need to remove that intake manifold to be cleaned and repainted.

Then I need to replace the rear multi-leafs before the car is even picture worthy. Even with the brand new kyb shocks, the springs can't seem to hold up the rear. It's completely bottomed out just sitting there. (The pictures in post1 are with air shocks pumped wayyy up).

Nice 'bird. I love the color combo with the vinyl top. The full top looks better than the weird vinyl top that came on the camaros in '69

Speaking of... I just picked up a set of Hooker headers for this on Craigslist. Best part: they were 25 dollars! I'm gonna have them sand blasted nxt week, then hopefully all painted and on the car the following.
