GM B body spindle help with tie rod application... Please help with input!
Hello everyone,
I have 1969 Buick GS400 that the previous owner put B body spindles on. I went to replace my tie rods and realized the PO had modified the A body tie rods. They have been ground down to make the taper fit the B Body spindle and so now replacement A body tie rods don't fit.
The tie rods that do fit (1990s caprice) do not fit the tie rod adjusting sleeve that works with my inner tie rod for my A body center link...
So do I???.....
A) modify my A body tie rods with a grinder or,
B) find a solution to my adjusting sleeve? Are there custom built tie rod sleeves that have different threads for inner/outer?
Has anyone had this problem? Please help!
Thank you!

04-09-2019 #2I would definitely NOT grind the tie rods. I would call hotchkis or global west. They both used to do a lot of the b body spindle swaps I’m sure they could hook you up with the right parts.

Looks like Moog has one that works. Outer tie rod from a mid 80s regal, Monte Carlo has the B body taper and the 1968-1970 GM A body threads.
