What is the end goal of the Monte? When you say notch & brace - mini-tubs?

When I did my olds cutlass a few years ago I cut just out the wheel well really well and then just moved them towards the center by 3" and then put in a filler piece to fill in the gaps. That worked out pretty well and still looks factory. For the notch I cut the frame portion out and then ground down the piece I cut off till it was flat and then welded it back in, my frame is about 1 1/2" wide now if I recall correctly. As for the bracing after I did that i sorta did a cross x-brace sorta thing. This link should give you a pretty good idea. Not saying this is the best way but its pretty low buck.

The car hobby is dangerous,if the speed doesn't kill you, the cost of parts will.
