I’m not planning on Autocrossing, just a daily driver. I would like to go with 3.42 gearing and maybe a stronger diferential since this one is old.

Depending on what you plan to upgrade down the road, you might consider building the 10 bolt that's in it now. For example, if you dream of one day swapping in a Quadralink, etc. then don't buy a 12 bolt now, buy it when you update the rear suspension and either weld the brackets on or buy it ready to go. That gives you room to get a narrowed unit without re-buying everything again.
In my First Gen, I rebuilt the stock 8.2 10 bolt with an Auburn Pro Series posi, 3.55 gears and used the stock axles and C-clips (until a bearing failed years later) then upgraded to Superior axles until I went Quadralink/12 bolt. The car had a 427 big block, T10 4-speed and I ran BFG Drag Radials and the rear end held up fine till the day I sold it (aprox 20 years). I also welded the axle tubes 360° and reinforced the leaf spring perches. Keep in mind, there were no clutch dumping stupid sessions but you'd be surprised what a budget built, properly assembled 10 bolt can handle when it's not facing abuse at every turn, which sounds like won't be the case for you either. Just my $.02...

I’m starting think that would be the best route. I picked up a 12 bolt that was for an early Nova. Turns out this rear end is a rare one since it’s casting date is late 1965. I was told I could buy 2-69 rear ends for what mine is worth since that one is very hard to find.

You’re correct there...if you wanted to sell it, Steve’s Nova Site would be a good outlet...lots of Nova purists there that would appreciate it. There’s also several Facebook groups specific to Novas that would be worth listing it on.
