Bottles and cans
While reading the instructions (yes! i did!) for the Baer brakes track kit I came across a line that claimed 'we recommend (brand x brake fluid) because it comes in properly sealed cans and NOT bottles'. Up to this point I've been using Valvoline Synpower fluid out of the bottle. Is there much difference between brake fluid that comes in a metal can and that which comes in a plastic bottle?
Drowning in projects!

12-08-2005 #2IMO....No there is not. Many Brand X fluid providers use a platic type bottle and to date we have never heard this before. Both fluids we offer (Wilwood 570 plus and Wilwood 600 EXP) come in plastic containers and are used around the world by some of the race industries best drivers.
Best way to find out? Next time the Snap-on or Mac truck comes around your area ask them for a few Brake fluid moisture saturation test strips. Test each container......my guess saturation will be within 1% off what the fluid manuf. claims it to be.
Note: Since Glycol based fluids are meant to absorb moisture from the system, you should be flushing and changing this fluid every 2-3 years (for optimum performance). I guess the point being, no matter how many argue the point of a metal can vs. a plastic one a saturation test is the only surefire way to know what your holding in your hands.
I guess the next thing will be : "The guys using plastic bottles put the lids on faster than the guys using metal bottles, therefore saturation remains about the same" Geeee Wiz!!Last edited by LTorres; 12-08-2005 at 11:20 AM. Reason: spelling
