Yes sir. This is suppose to be fun. Enjoy the ride and learn to do it yourself if you can. If you can’t I would suggest biting the bullet and finding someone that can do every aspect of your car and have them complete it.

Wasn’t too difficult to cut it out. The main hoop bar is totally save-able.

The more I look at this...the more yuck I see!

I've been in the same boat several times with my current project...it seems that at every step, something unexpected comes up that hinders progress and requires additional cash. Even with careful research and planning, it's always two steps forward, one step back...if I'm lucky! I just learned to accept that the hiccups are part of the journey, that it's going to take much longer and cost significantly more than I initially envisioned, and that no matter how much I try, it's not going to be perfect.

I don't think its that bad. Looks like you still have some wiggle room to move the bar on that plate. Grind down the little bit left on the plate, set the rollbar back on, and I think you will be ok.
I feel your pain. In the 10 years my project hasn't rolled out of the garage, I have been deployed twice. I first came across this forum while in Afghanistan in 2007. So frustrating to see others making progress and my car gets put on the back burner for other stuff. The question I absolutely hate is "when will you drive it again?" because I have no idea how much time I will have during a given month.
Side note, I used my GI Bill and went back to school for welding. Having your own MIG/TIG setup at home makes work like this soooo easy.

Actually I can. As you can see I cut it super low. The cross bar was welded in solid and can easily be cut add the removeable cross bar pieces...I will have the new doublers I wont be using. All that will be needed is the down bars which I know DSE sells or can be fabbed. Someone who knows what they are doing can easily salvage whats left.

Summit might have a deal on one - I returned mine last week. I had bought it before I sold my car, the buyer didn't want it. I put it up for sale but everybody low-balled me. Summit was willing to take it back, I took a hit on the Shipping & Re-Stock, but it was easier than trying to sell & ship across country

Well I did end up buying another one from Summit. It was in stock which is odd..I probably got your old one lol.

It has to go freight according to DSE and Summit, I’m sure it’s not cheap to ship. DSE wanted $400 to ship a new hoop to me.

This is what stress does...got the new roll bar today...looked it over and it looked funny. Turns out to be a first gen kit. It gets better...that’s what I ordered. I have no idea how that happened. Now I have more headache to deal with. A return and more wait. Good gosh.

Don t stress man, things happen for a reason.
If you have a wife or a girlfriend parent or sibling, maybe use that time to forget about the car for a little bit.

      REMEMBER,FUN!!!

that would not have been mine as I haven't received notice that they have processed my return - it was going to their GA warehouse. I had bought it in July. It cost me $100 to ship it back to Summit

+1 on the walk away for a while. I let mine sit for a year over a distributor timing excuse.

One thing to consider with the new roll bar and novice welding skills is buy a inexpensive gas type 110 Mig. Tack weld the bar where you want it and then take the car to welding shop and have them burn it in good. Might be a bit of transport hassle but that's what I do. My welding skills are OK but I don't trust my skills with anything that might have to save my life.

      Good luck with your project.
