      Rubber to steel ..

I've got a radiator overflow tank that has a 1/4" stub coming out of it. From the radiator, the hose is 5/16". I have to use the 5/6" because that's about as small as I can get and still get it over the radiator tube. But that leaves it loose at the overflow end. I've tried just about everything I can think of to make this work. I've used two plastic wire ties pulled tight then two small SS type screw clamps and I can still pull the rubber off the 1/4" end. Now I'm thinking I may need some kind of adhesive that could fill some of the gap. Do you guys have a idea?

Just went to Advance Auto, got a piece of 5/32" vacuum tubing. Put a piece about 1" long on the overflow and forced the 5/16" piece over that. Going to clamp this and see how it does. You can't tell it's done this way other than the small bump on the end. Here's for hoping.
