Changing sub-frame with front body still on

I saw in a thread where they changed out the front sub but left the fenders, core support etc. on the car. How is this accomplished? Isn't it all located off & attached to the sub-frame?

We do it all the time.
the fenders will hold it all in place slip the sub out an the new one back in with the motor installed it is by far the easiest way. We have even done it and had the engine hanging on a engine crane pulled the sub out and put the new one in didn't even drain the antifreeze.

You didn't mention which car and year it is that you are inquiring about.

If it is a 1st gen f-body, the front sheet metal rests on the sub frame in two places. Each on a side of the radiator support. The wheel wheels, and everything is not attached to the sub frame.
