Thanks! It took such a long time for me to find a cherry red color that pops in the sun and is also a basecoat/clearcoat. Everything on new cars that looks like this is a tricoat.

I was wondering how the paint was coming along, looks really nice! Glad to see movement in the right direction. Looking forward to some updates along the way.

Getting to the finish line. Got the carpet in, dash in, center console in, seats in, door glass in, power windows in, power door locks in, power side mirrors in, headliner in. She’s ready for interior shop to recover everything and custom door panels and back seat.

Ride height is also set, I have 3.5” from lowest point. Drove the car around a little without windshield and back glass but still drives amazingly. It tracked dead straight. No vibrations, no weird noises or rattles. I’m really happy I did all that insulation everywhere.

Wow. Really turning out nice. Curious how you mounted the rear seats! I have a similar set. Also, those mustang side mirrors?

Go back through my build I explained how I mounted the back seats. Upper part was fairly easy. The bottom I’m not sure what the interior shop will do. I didn’t want to mess it up.

Side mirrors are from a 15-20 mustang.

Can’t leave well enough alone! While I wait for interior shop to take the car. The light switch was really bothering me. I wanted to incorporate the Mercedes switch but I couldn’t figure out how to make it work so I pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Looks like the Mercedes switch but functions exactly like the original because the original is attached. Didn’t have to rewire anything. Came out pretty sweet!Name: IMG_2164.jpg

Did you have to modify the mirror arms for mounting?
If so what did you do to them?

No mods to the mirror arms. Take a look at page 14 post 263 that’s what I did to the door.

      Phenomenal build!!!

I bought the Lexus mirrors some time ago. They are a bit on the large size but I like using larger mirrors so I might still use them. I actually like all of the different mirrors that you tried.

Which mirror do you think would be the easiest to install on a complete and painted car? It's too late for me to start cutting up a door. LOL!

      Thanks

      Thanks Larry really appreciate!

There’s a company that makes adapters for the mustang mirrors for a first gen Camaro. They look 3d printed. But they are pricey and I think you can fairly easily modify the mirror arm itself to bolt directly into a door that’s already painted. The aluminum housing that slides inside the door is thick, about 2” or so. You can easily cut that down flush and you’ll still have about an 1” or so left. Then install new bolts that go through the arm that match the existing first gen Camaro mirror holes.

In all honesty, all the mirrors I tried were just a tad too big and looked out of place. The Mustang mirrors look proportional and don’t stand out like a sore thumb. BBT fab make an exact copy of the mustang mirrors and are making them in all billet, carbon or fiberglass for almost $2k. I see they are starting to show up more and more on high end builds. Even the C10 guys are starting to use them.

This is the link for the 3d printed mirror arms.

Little bit if a tangent, but that company also I just found makes really nice close out panels for first gen Camaros. Wish I saw these earlier. I definitely would have bought it. They have 3 versions online.
