      Neat dunebuggy engine

Ok so it's not totally PT related but thought you would all like to drool a bit. Yes this guy is taking is "toy" to a whole new level.

Neat lookin cam bearing isn't it

      wee bit of titanium

Whaaaaa, look at the name on that box

Ok so the breakdown. It's an all aluminum full roller 588ci Brodix BBC, 12 degree RM Pro Stock heads, Oliver Titanium rods, Wilson sheetmetal intake manifold, BS3 efi, 5 stage drysump, and all that fun stuff. Bob weight came out lighter than your average 350 sbc, made 1069hp @ 7k and 904ft/lbs @ 5k... Not a bad powerplant for a little dune buggy. Yeah I can think of a car or 3 I wouldn't mind droping that thing into, and chances are it wouldn't be a desert toy

Will that thing even stay on the ground? Put the pedal to the floor and it would send the buggy into orbit!

or a big trench dug up by the rear wheels

The sand rail guys are amazing. I sold two paddle shifters today--both for sand rails. One was a 300HP turbo hayabusa rail that weighs only 900 lbs total! And the other was a Northstar/4T65E combo. The ingenuity and engineering on these toys is just incredible.

Hey thats Quest Racing in Worcester, MA I used to work next door at the Chassis Dyno Shop. They build motors for a guy that lives in Arizona that puts them in Sand Rails. the same guy had them build a 1200hp blown motor for a said rail.
he said it was the scarist thing he has ever ridden in, and he drives a Pro Mod Car.

lol Yep. Apparently the owner of the orange one I posted is a retired dentist, and last I heard, hasn't had the balls to go WOT yet. Huh?

That BBC is more my speed. 1,000 hp N/A beats 1,500 hp with a power adder any day in my book.

Yeah that is one bad mofo, but personally i'd rather see it in a mid engine car. Rear engine 4-5 seat buggies will carry the front wheels with 1/2 the power he's making. Drop that in a mid 2 seater and it would be king of the dunes.

      Like this:

And yeah these guys are down right nuts. Leather interiors, heated seats, GPS, racepack dash kits. That BB car will probably be $130k when all is said and done

I want to see some CNC Billet aluminum a-arms for PT cars

I have a pic of one that will make all the Mopar guys DROOOLLL... beautiful plum crazy purple 4 seater with an aluminum hemi (real one) and all the other fancy stuff.

I tell ya it makes me feel ok about building a street car, at least we aren't stuck needing $25k one off transaxles and such, tho I wouldn't mind having one.

Never thought I would see the day when you could debate between a nice ferrari 360 or a new sand rail, and you wouldn't sound completely nuts. You do have to be kinda nuts to drop that kind $$$ into something thats basically uninsurable and guaranteed to get beat to piss.

Twin turbo 3.0L Mitsubishi powered sand rail, not mine. The amazing thing is not that he did it but that there is another one that someone else completed before they heard about each other.
