I have had several. I'm currently doing my 69 Firebird for that. It's my daily, suspension and wheels/tires are the last thing it needs. Body/interior/powertrain are done and it has recent all new suspension including coilovers in the rear, but I plan on going full Hotchkis everything and going from the 14x6 Rally II wheels to reproduction 17x8 and 17x9 wheels/tires. I also plan on doing IRS in the rear in a couple years as well.

IMO, daily and drag strip don't mix (going for max E/T, not just fun), but daily and auto-x, not a problem. Just make sure you have a separate set of tires for the track from the daily tires and only buy shocks are that VERY easily adjustable. Going between track firmness and street firmness is key for max enjoyment, don't ever try to build 1 setup for both, it's has to be adjustable or it won't be great at either.
