      Seam Sealers- What type

I need some advice on Seam Sealers and the best type to use.

Are interior sealers (i.e. around mini tub and trunk pan) different from exterior sealers (i.e. between mini tub and outer)? Should they be flexible? 2 part vs Single (Fast n Firm).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      I just used 3M All-Around Sealant (1-part).
It says it can be used for exterior/interior, and dries flexible and rubber like. It was really easy to work with, just put it on with a caulking gun and smooth with a wet finger. I thinks its part #08500, any autobody shop should have it. i think they also make a quick dry version

I used 3M sandable seamsealer and put it on real thick and high on some of the body seams and after about a week I went back with a razor knife and trimmed it flat to the surface. I then sanded it lightly and sprayed it with the epoxy primer and sanded it some more and sprayed it with one more coat of primer along with the rest of the car. When it was all done and painted you can barely see the seams and it hasn't cracked or done anything out of the ordinary and it sure looks a lot better than the shrinkage look that you normally see when you look at the seams.

I would do it again the same way as long as I had the time to wait for it to shrink. It has been 2 yrs and has been through temp changes so I know it is ok to do it this way.

I third the 3M Seam Sealer. It's paintable which is perfect for just about any auto application. It's in a white calking gun tube and comes out a manilla yellow/white color. Very easy to use and works great. I've used it on 2 cars now.

I'm partial to 2 part sealers we use either fusor or kent products. It does'nt shrink and is super tough when finished it looks like oem sealers. Any decent auto paint store wil likely carry fusor products. Kent will have to be bought from a local rep. or you might find a shop that uses it and would be willing to sell you some. Both companies make a flow grade (drip rails on vans ect) and a non sag one.
