      Noise in tru trac

I have a New Moser 12 bolt with a 3:73 tru trac. I have called moser on this noise and they told me that they have nothing for me??? Kinda weird if you ask me...

But the concern that I have is when Im going down the highway about 70mph in 6th gear and let off the throttle and start to give a little throttle a pretty bad chatter comes from the rear end. It also does it on side street but is not as loud. I double checked my pinion angles even though I dont have a vibration and it was 2.9* down on the trans tail shaft and 4.1* up pn the rear end yoke. I can try to get the rear dow a degree but would that make change it?

I am not expert but wouldnt this be a back lash noise? I aske moser tech and they said they would have not way and can not check it and that is not part of the warranty? I do live 2.5 hours from them and they just narrowed my rear last November and I only have a couple hundred miles on it.

Does anyone know of any good suggestions for me to check? or maybe a good shop around Cincinnati that could lead me in the right direction?

      Thanks

If those pinion angles are at ride height then the rear end needs to roll down at least 1 degree....maybe two. i dont' think that is your problem but correcting it will help the life of your u joints.

Does the chatter go away if you roll on a little more throttle or completely let off the gas? If so my 9" did the same thing twice. It ended up being a problem in the setup where the pinion bearings weren't set properly allowing the pinion to walk in and out of the ring gear. It would only do it at that magic point when you weren't on the throttle and you weren't off of it either......if that makes sense.

I was going to bring the rear to the same or a close as I can get it to the front.

yes it does go away when you get back into the throttle and totally let off. you can kinda still hear but it is not as bad. I talked to moser and they said they cant do anything for me. So I guess i have to pay out more to have soeone else look at it? Thats bull

join the club. Will never buy another moser. My issues had to do with the ring & pinion setup. They wanted me to ship the whole rear end back to them on my dime and have them look at it. IF they deemed there was a problem, we'd go from there. They did offer a new gearset & install kit, which I accepted, but still had to pay to install (correctly this time). So I spent over $500 on a brand new $3000+ rear end. I had the tech record all the specs & leave marking compound on the original gears hoping moser would be interested in taking a look at them... They said they have no use for them & I should throw them out. At least I got the gears. I have the wave trac in mine & there is a lot of slack in turning the yoke. I can rotate the yoke nearly a half a turn before it engages the axles. This can create a bit of a racket when coming on/off the throttle uless you ease off & ease back on. Not sure this is your problem, but just a thought. Wouldnt hurt to have it looked at, let us know what you find.

Brandon, what did you find out. I have the tru trac set up in my 9" rearend, took it down the road for the first time yesterday and it makes some terrible popping noises. Scared the crap out of me. I put it back in the garage and am searching for answers. Let me know if you solved your problem.
      thanks

Subscribed. I had a Moser 12-bolt Eaton posi 'complete rear assembly for first gen Camaro' for 3 years that didn't give me any troubles which I just sold, however I just purchased last week its replacement: a new Moser 12-bolt Tru-trac with 3.42 gears and 33-spline axles and now have it installed in my '69 Camaro. It has the Torino housing ends this time and is slightly narrower also. Unfortunately I won't get to test it out any time soon as I'm now saving for the engine. I sure hope I don't run into any noise issues as I'm seeing reported here. My first one worked great that's why I purchased another one with different options and width. Removing and returning is simply a rediculous process and a sh_tty option for anybody faced with it. I look forward to any follow-up posts on this. I'll also report back when I get it up and running.
