70 T/A full quarter panels?

Me and my dad may end up buying a 70 T/A that was wrecked and is being issued a salvage title. We haven't seen the car yet but got a deal that regardless of how bad the car's hurt it is worth the money.

The insurance adjuster and owner of the body shop say it needs a tail panel, decklid, spoiler, trunk pan and FULL quarter. The tail panel, decklid, spoiler and trunk pan are no big deal but I can only find partial quarter panels. Does anyone even make reproduction full quarters?

I'm having trouble researching this as there aren't a lot of Pontiac message boards like this or team Camaro.... If anyone knows an old pontiac site setup like that it would help just as much.

It looks like one of the rear tail panels is NOS. They both will go for big bucks. :comp3:

You don't find 70-73 T/A parts cheap. Haven't been able to since the mid-80's (Functional shakers were going for $500.00 back then).

Not stupid, but yes they are different. In one way is the body line, another is the rear side marker light.

On his questions area he says he has a 70 shell to go soon. That may be the way to go if it's in good condition. Those quarters don't appear to be full panels.

If you get lucky you can score a 70-73 body shell for under 1 grand. I found one and bought it. It's a good shell, so i might save it for another project, not sure yet. I got an offer for 2500 bucks so far on it.

I knew this would be the perfect place to ask for Pontiac forums, this forum is so diverse in taste... that's what's good about it.

I didn't figure there would be an easy route, I was assuming a body shell would be the best way to go but then too there aren't very good odds of finding a solid one I wouldn't think.

And Bonzo you're not alone I wondered if they were the same too.

It's just weird without it being a Camaro with an unlimited supply of resto parts.

We are just waiting for the insurance company to give us the go ahead to take it for a cool $1400. Only problem is it'll have a salvage title... would that really bother you all if the car was restored correctly and clean with good documentation of how the salvage damage was fixed?

I don't think it would bother me, but I don't know if it's ever entered into a hardcore show if that would matter. Again another option for the shell option, getting a clean title from it, Also I believe that some states allow for getting some sort of clean title after a rebuild, but again I could be mistaken. I'm currently working a 71 Bird that has 34K miles originally a 6cyl Power Glide car. There is not a lick of rust on it, and is currently on my rotisserie for clean up and paint.
