      Suspension problems!

I installed a Hotchkis TVS system on my 1969 camaro, and the rear is dropped 1-1/2''. When i tried to hook up the driveshaft to it, it wouldnt fit. Was the housing relocated forward? oh and is there a difference in length in the driveshaft, between a 2 speed powerglide, and a th-350 hydramatic ? thanks

We had the same problem, when you raise the rear housing the yolk gets abit closer. From my experience PG and 350TH are the same dimentionaly. Should not be a problem there. There might be a difference in the trans output yolk.
Either way you need a shorter shaft.

The PG driveshaft and transmission crossmember will work for the TH350, but I don't know if you need a long or short output tailshaft TH350. I'll assume you have the transmission attached to the engine and secured to the crossmember.

As for the rear leafs.... Are the tires centered in the wheelwells? When you installed the rear supsension did you tighten the suspension with the car on the ground?

yes, you need to see if the wheels are centered in the wheel housing, lately people have been having a problem with the hotchkis leafs locating pin being too far foward, and the the axle being located too far foward. which would also make your driveshaft too far foward.

Yea the housing moved forward about 2''......i installed the rear springs with car on jacks, and the tranny bolted up to the engine and crossmember already. Does hotchkis have any springs to relocate the housing back or am i just gonna have to cut the driveshaft?

Do you have the springs reversed (front of spring mounted to rear)?

The springs are installed right, but the housing pin is to far forward.

Did you figure this out by comparing the placement of the pin, to your original springs?

That's to bad, all the work for nothing. I've used two sets of Hotckis springs. Glad I didn't have this problem. But I'll be sure to take the measurement next time. Let us know what Hotchkis has to say.

Yea i measured the pin to front of the spring mounting point and there was like a 1-3/4'' difference between them. The rear tire deff. moved forward, its got about 3'' till it hits the front of the rear wheel opening, which sucks because im gonna get 285/75/15R tires and there gonna hit the fender when i install the wheel

I'm sure you know the difference between the front and the rear of the spring but what is the measurement if you flip the spring around?

Hotchkis has had a bad batch of springs for Camaros, I don't know if they were made wrong or mis-marked but they don't work and Hotchkis is aware of the problem.

Two or three members over on Team Camaro had the same problem as you. Call Hotchkis after you measure the dimension from front spring eye to center bolt.
