      Speaker - Ron Sutton:
Skip this if you know my background. I’ve been racing for 37 years in 80+ classes of racing, most professionally, including drag, road course, karts & oval track. From low powered Formula Fords & F2000 cars to Mountain Motor drag racing … Midgets, Sprint Cars, Super Modifieds … to Trans Am/GT road race cars, Modifieds, Late Models & NASCAR Stock Cars. I’ve had the good fortune to work with & learn from winning pro teams & smart people in SCCA, USAC, SRL, NHRA, IHRA, IMSA, Camel GT, Indycar, Grand Am & NASCAR. Most of my modern experience is designing winning cars for road racing & oval track. The last 2 years, I have designed winning chassis & suspensions for autocross competitors.

I’ve built 205 cars for clients “hands on” as they say. Specifically, 64 tube chassis cars & 140+ sportsman race cars. I’ve had a chassis shop, parts store, track stores & engine R&D over the years. I’ve owned 79 race cars myself, including 9 full time race teams up until 2012. Most years I was at the track 3-4 days a week, 40+ weeks out of the year. As a driver, team owner, crew chief or driver coach I have 498 wins & 22 championships. I live & breathe competition, and I believe winning comes from doing your homework, testing, working hard, testing more, learning from books, classes & mentors … and testing more. I’m not the smartest guy at the track, but when he goes home I’m still there testing & learning. I figure I have 2500+ days of track testing under my belt.

I’m not an engineer. I’ve worked for them, with them & had several work for me … but we’re from different planets. One of my friends said, “Ron is a race car designer that did not go to engineering school, so he speaks car guy.” I’m a veteran car guy committed to staying on the leading edge of performance & racing technology. I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable in my areas of expertise … but I learn every week, if not every day.

      Speaking Style:
You may be surprised to know I’ve done hundreds of racing workshops in different genres. While I don’t claim to be a rock star, many people have said I’m pretty good at making technical learning engaging, fun & very interesting. I keep the workshop on track, but I’m not giving some rehearsed speech standing behind a podium. I’m moving around, talking with my participants, sharing stories, the occasional bad joke, discussing real world examples & answering questions right then, not later at the end.

      Key Point:
I never sell in a workshop. Never. I educate. Even if I love a product, I don’t sell anyone. That’s just not my style. No one sells or “pitches” any products in my workshops. If you attend my workshop, you will walk away with valuable, powerful information you understand to help make your car handle better & more fun to drive. I guarantee it.

Yes, you have a year to use the knowledge you gain. If you are not happy and satisfied, I will refund your money.

      I’m OLD … Don’t Miss This Opportunity:
I have a five year plan that includes conducting this powerful workshop topic ONE YEAR … THIS YEAR.
I’m doing the same topic in five cities for 2016. That’s it.
I won’t be offering this topic again … for the next four years … maybe ever.

I am introducing a different book & workshop topic every year over five years.
Each year, I’ll introduce the next installment in my five book series … and of course … have a different workshop that matches the book topics.
The five book series & five workshop topics are already mapped out through 2019.

Nice! I see that the SEMA event is on Wednesday, and won't cut into the P-T dinner.

I'll purchase my ticket in a month or two since I'm hemorrhaging cash on by build right now, but I'll definitely be there. Very informative last year.

Ron's workshop completely changed the way I look at setting a car's suspension up to handle properly. He has a unique way of taking something fairly complicated and breaking it down into laymens terms and uses visual aids to teach how to make just about any suspension type or strategy work as well as possible. While we did most of what he taught last year already on my car, going back through the process once again in the workshop made things much clearer to me on WHY we did what we did to my car. I now take that knowledge and help others figure out how to make their cars handle better without just bolting on parts and hoping it works. It's not rocket science, but there is a science to it and Ron helps car guys figure that science out and how it pertains to their cars.

Just wanted to add my comments here for Ron and his workshop. I've never attended anything like this before but I'm more then glad I did. It was professional, organized and more then informative. My head is still spinning from all the great information Ron provided.

I want to thank Ron, Ride tech, stop tech and all other sponsors/vendors for hosting this event.

I'm going to try my hardest to get to the Vegas workshop this year. For anyone interested I suggest you stop thinking about it and just go if its possible. There's no point in buying expensive parts for your car and not know how to tune them or there purpose. Best money you'll spend on yourself and your car.

      Thanks again Ron,

I attended Ron's work shop in Ft Worth last Oct.,I lucked out due to a cancellation and got in the last minute. My experience is pure grassroots enthusiast I did repair shop level suspension work for 2 years after high school. Our shop used the old Hunter Light Alien and basic Bubble Caster/Camber gauge and toe bar. Over the years I've worked on my own early Mustangs and a friends Vintage Boss 302 clone track car.

The "why suspensions works" has always been a question in my mind.
Ron's essays here really spoke to my curiosity and got my gears turning so when the opportunity came up at the last minute to attend I jumped on it.

The work shops move quickly and frankly had me overwhelmed for about the first 2 hours or so , I dug in and tried to just listen and take notes, having read Ron's essays I had a pretty good idea the info would tie together and by late mourning the concepts started coming together. Beginning after lunch I was already picturing suspension dynamically and could see the effects each corner has on the other and the tires contact patch.

When I got home I began using the concepts I learned on my '68 Mustang, although I only street drive and autocross my Mustang I have increased the grip of the car far beyond the vintage Mustang handling "bible" the "Boss 302 Chassis Manual".

For me most of the info given was only words on a page until the work shop,at the end of the day I could "see" cause and effect,I understood dynamic suspension movement,I understood how front and rear roll center, roll couple, and center of gravity effect each other and how they effect inside and outside tire traction on both ends of the car. How spring rate, anti roll bar rate and shocks effect suspension travel and control the above.

The info on debriefing the driver,or yourself, after a run as well as how to break down corners into sections to improve both driver comfort and lap times really links the shop, tuning and track together.

I will attend the Ft Worth work shop this year and I'm bringing at least one friend who just wants to understand what I'm asking him when he comes in after practice.LOL

I attended Ron's first workshop, and it was indeed an eye opening experience. After the class, I looked at how to adjust the car far differently than I had beforehand.

I've upgraded the car in a few places based on what I learned so I look forward to Part 2 to further enhance my understanding of car setup and grip. For the price of a single tire, it's the bet deal around!!

BTW, I signed up today for the workshop in Jasper so I'm super excited about a week for Cars and Cones followed by a day with Ron!!

Had a fantastic experience in Ron's first class last year in Bowling Green. I was amazed at the amount of info he covers in a single day! Looking forward to what will be covered over the next several workshops he has planned and putting the knowledge to use on our C10. Thanks again, Ron, for offering your time and knowledge so we can all have a better understanding of suspension dynamics and tuning! See you in about 2 weeks!

      Ron:

I saw your class for 9-29-16 in Ft. Worth and signed up. I'm looking forward to meeting you and learning a ton about setting my Car(s) up.
I have a few questions regarding being prepared for your class.

      1. Would it be helpful to bring to class specific measurements of our own cars so as your speaking we can work with what you are teaching and apply it directly to our cars?

      2. If so, what specific measurements would you suggest we acquire about our own cars to get the most out of your class?

      3. Are there any .pdf's or good links we should read ahead of time to familiarize ourself with any definitions, formulas, techniques, theorys, etc.?

      Thanks,

      Ty O'Neal

      Hello Ty !

Actually ... in the class ... one of the 7 things we're covering are simple ways to measure your car's suspension. So there's no reason to do it twice. Besides, doing it after you have the knowledge will make it go quicker, easier & end up the accurate information that will be usable.

In the workshop, I'm going to give you a Suspension software CD that you can use as a trial program for 30 days. You can plug in your car's info ... and see what your geometry looks like.

      From the other 6 things we're covering ... you'll learn ...
      2. How to Evaluate Your Car’s Geometry & Understand It Better
      3. Simple Ways to Improve Your Car’s Grip & Handling Consistency
      4. Proven Methods to Create Out-of-the-Box Winning Suspension Set-ups
      5. Master the Recipe for Ultra Fast Spring, Sway Bar & Shock Combinations
      6. Achieve Amazing Grip & Corner Speed in Your Current Car … or Any Car!
      7. Track Day Tuning to Dial Your Car in for Neutral, Balanced Handling

I'm looking forward to meeting you !

      Hi Ron:

Could you answer a couple more questions?

      1. The "Suspension Software CD" sounds cool. Will it run on the Mac OSx?

      2. How much does the Suspension CD cost if someone wants to purchase it?

      Thanks,

      Ty O'Neal

I'm super excited about the return of all 11 of my Workshop Partners this year, as well as the addition of 7 new ones. They're not really new to me, as I have worked with most of them & their products in my racing endeavors for years. Decades actually.

I'll be sharing some cool new products, packages & technology I've developed together with some of of them ... and some they developed without my involvement that I think rock & improve what we're doing.

There are a couple things that I would like to note about Ron Sutton's workshops...

      1. This is NOT a ridetech [nor any other specific company] sales seminar. ridetech and the other sponsoring companies help support these educational events, but Ron concentrates on solid suspension theory and education that is relevant for ANY brand and style of suspension.

      2. This is not a highbrow geekfest. Ron speaks plain English. On the occasions where there is no substitute for obscure technical terms, they are explained fully in easy-to-understand language. In addition, Ron is a very articulate and entertaining speaker. You will not go to sleep or become bored.

      3. I have commented many times that the single best investment one can make in search of speed is education. Driver education...suspension education...brake education...when a human truly understands what their car is doing and why, it starts to become clear what needs to be improved and what changes may be necessary to make those improvements. A really good driving school will cost several thousand dollars...and is still a wonderful investment. This workshop is $399...about the cost of a really good performance tire [one tire, not one set :(] I assure everyone that this $399 will make you and your car happier and faster than any component you could possibly bolt to your car.

      4. You will get to spend the day with a group of highly motivated like-minded people. No matter what the subject, that is never a waste of time!

I would definitely agree with Bret that this work shop is a fantastic learning tool. The lesson is reviewed and discussed in practical terms so that everyone can understand the principles. I had a great time last year being a part of the Columbus workshop and was amazed at the amount of knowledge I gained in that one afternoon. You will not be disappointed with the workshop!!!

We met Ron Sutton at a ridetech suspension workshop in 2014. After a demo of the new QuickTrick Alignment kit, Ron held his workshop on racing suspension.
This was our first suspension workshop and Ron was a no bull****, straight shooter with experience, understandable information and a no yawn presentation. (Not easy to do)

So, in 2015, when Ron asked us if we would like to be a part of his workshops and the official alignment system, we jumped at the opportunity. Every class sold out and we were proud to sponsor a lot of QuickTrickers to attend. Every single class was oversold and a huge success.

We approached Ron for 2016, to make sure we did not miss the opportunity to be a part of his classes. We already have advanced sponsorships for every class in 2016, in every location and requests for sponsorship for 2017’s series.

We cannot say enough about Ron Sutton’s expertise and successful results for his graduates. Make sure you get to a workshop near you.
